Fare Collection System for Addis Ababa Light Rail Transit in Ethiopia
Addis Ababa city light rail is the first urban light rail in Ethiopia even in East Africa. It is also the first urban rail transit project constructed by Chinese companies with a total length of 34.25 km, a total of 40 stations. And each train can accommodate 286 passengers. Each train is expected to transport passenger 7,500 passengers after the completion. It started the first test run on February 1, 2015 and officially operated from September 20, 2015.

Winsion undertook the fare collection system of Addis Ababa light rail. It mainly consists of automatic fare collection system, automatic ticket checking system and smart card and so on. The project is the first foreign project undertaken by the company. The team members overcame the language barriers and harsh environmental obstacles in Africa, and actively participated in the construction of this light rail transit in Ethiopia.
