In nearly 14 years since the official operation in January 1996, the North Square has been playing a "protagonist", the South Square has not been opened, only used as a railway warehouse, Passengers can only enter the station from the North Square for waiting. In order to alleviate the traffic pressure, also to shorten the passengers’ time to enter the station without detour from the North Square, a large-scale renovation project was done to the South Square of Beijing West Railway Station at the end of 2009. In this project, our company undertook the upgrading and reconstruction of digital video monitoring, digital broadcasting, integrated display, arrival & depart notice, clock, ticketing system and so on. A total of 106 monitoring cameras, 20 plasma screens, 19 LCD panels, 37 LED display screens for station and ticket hall, 1 set of master clock of clock system and GPS receiver, and 13 digital display sub-clocks were used for this project. The technical indicators of each system of the completed South Square have reached the industry-leading level which plays a key role for the Beijing West Railway Station to become a world-class passenger hub.
