Baoding Station has a long history of more than 100 years since its inception in 1899. It can be described as witnessing of the history of China's railway development. With the time flying, the old information system’s functions of Baoding Station can no longer meet today’s needs. Thus in 2011 the Beijing Railway Bureau decided to upgrade and reconstruct Baoding Station of Jing-Guang Railway.

The reconstruction and upgrading involves ticket sales and reservation system (TRS), window ticket machine, ticket adjustment system, automatic ticketing system, network and security system, passenger transport service system (PTSS), integrated platform, integrated display system, broadcast system, video monitoring system, clock system, inquiry system, the security system, the public security management information system, the station office information system, package management and service information system, the comprehensive wiring system and so on to meet the modern demand.After the upgrading, Baoding station transport a total number of 261,000 passengers a day which reaches to a history record peak.Not only he reconstructed Baoding Station is able to meet the current demand, but also the integrated systems are fully capable of dealing with increasing passenger flow. It is also a preparation to meet the large increase in the future.  It is really worthy of the name of “crucial place around Beijing” and "South Gate of the capital ". It becomes the most important railway station in the south of the capital.
